NTEC - Neonatology Technology Enabled Care

The Northwest is the third most populated region in the UK with a population of 6.1 million, and a birth rate of about 77,500 annually. Each year, neonatal units in the region care for around 7,400 babies.1

After the COVID-19 pandemic, challenges in accessing specialist services highlighted the need to review neonatal and paediatric care in the region. This involves improving digital tools in neonatal care to support better patient monitoring and communication, as well as addressing the workforce needs for Technology Enabled Care (TEC).

The Neonatal Technology Enabled Care Project (NTEC) is a collaborative working project between Chiesi Limited and the Academic Health Science Network Innovation Agency. The project uses Technology Enabled Care (TEC), which refers to tools and technology that help improve care and meet the standards of high-quality neonatal care.2

The NTEC project is currently under way. We will update this page when further insights become available.
